What is this site?
Goose Galaxy is a fansite dedicated to Goose! I’m not affiliated with the band, but I really like their music and the community around it. I enjoy building websites, so here we are!
Who are you?
I’m Evan Mullins. I’ve been building websites for over two decades. I enjoy building with WordPress, the open-source project, which I’ve contributed to and spoken about at conferences.
What was your motivation in building this site?
I first built a fansite for Jesse Welles when I noticed that there weren’t great resources for song information, news, setlist history, etc. I wanted one place that could organize songs by performance frequency, rarity status, debut dates, and venue information—combining the kind of detailed archive work that Deadheads pioneered but with a modern fan experience. So I combined my passions, made a site to do that, and then extended it for my other favorite bands like Goose!
What else do you listen to?
The Grateful Dead, Pearl Jam, Phish, The Avett Brothers, Jesse Welles, and plenty of indie rock—to name a few.
Why are there ads on the site?
To be honest, running a website isn’t free. I genuinely enjoy building and maintaining this space, but there are real costs behind the scenes—things like web hosting, domains, security, and more that keep everything running smoothly.
To help cover those expenses, you may see a few ads around the site. I try to keep them as minimal and non-intrusive as possible so they don’t get in the way of browsing. If ads bother you as much as they bother me, I created an option where you can create an account on the site, and then you can browse ad-free—click the user icon in the header to sign up!

Another note on ads: when there are ads displayed in video embeds of songs (like from YouTube), those are not site ads, and any revenue from those ads goes to Goose and other content creators, not to me. The embed is just like you’re watching the video on YouTube. Their terms even state it: “Only YouTube and the video owner will earn revenue from ads on embedded videos. The site owner where the video is embedded will not earn a share.”
What’s the deal with the setlist stats?
I like data, patterns, and connections, so I hooked the site up to setlist.fm’s API and it pulls in setlists, creates stats for songs and tours, and helps us visualize how the band evolves. It’s fascinating to see which songs dominate tours, which ones resurface after years away, and which venues get special treatment. Maybe it’s because I’m a longtime jam band fan and data nerd.
What are you working on next for the site?
I’m still working on getting all the songs and shows added and verified, then adding more analytical features: song evolution timelines, tour comparison tools, and a system that allows site visitors to create accounts to track their favorite songs, shows attended, and personal setlist notes. Also planning to expand the blog with deeper song and venue analysis.
